Hi Love!

I often hear people, including my clients, talking about wanting to find balance in their lives. It’s as though balance is some sort of ideal to strive for and feels out of reach.

They talk about being out of balance because they’re not getting to the things they want to because of competing priorities, they find they spend more time doing the things they don’t want to be doing, and sometimes it looks like blaming their job or family for taking them away from what they want.

Does any of this ever come up for you?

Balance isn’t the absence or omission of opposing priorities but the acceptance and understanding of the opposing forces (energies) at play.

Balance isn’t an either or, it’s a both and.

If you consider a person standing in tree pose in yoga, the two opposing forces from the standing leg pressing firmly into the floor and the bent leg pressing into the standing leg are required to find balance. Those two forces pressing in toward one another create balance through the center line of awareness of how much energy is being exerted in each direction. When one is pressing harder than the other we get wobbly. That wobbliness is the indicator to adjust the force of energy being exerted. It isn’t an indicator that something has gone wrong. It is an indicator that your attention is ready to be focused in the other direction.

Balance is something we play with. It isn’t something that “happens” to us. It is something we create.

Where are you feeling out of balance? How can you adjust the direction your energy is going? Listen in and decide.

With love,

Kathryn
