Hey Love,

I came across this quote the other day.

“When the roots are deep, there is no reason to fear the wind.” – African Proverb

I love the truth it offers in so many ways, although I’m going to use it in the context of BALANCE today.

I see the wind here as the elements of our life that are out of our control – those things that life hands us that we weren’t expecting – those things that interrupt our days.

I also see the wind as our own mind drama about the way things should be.

I see the roots as our sense of self – our understanding of what we value – our belief in ourselves – our self-trust and self-responsibility – and our source of strength and flexibility.

When our roots run deep in these areas, we hold steadfast in who we are, what we value, our belief and trust in ourselves, what we’re responsible for, and we draw on the strength and flexibility we need when we face the unexpected events of life or our own spinning minds.

We pause and breathe.
We pause and check in.
We pause and accept.
We pause and redirect our attention.
We pause and guide ourselves based on our own grounded knowing.

This is the play…this is how we create balance in our lives.

It’s an individual practice.

There’s no “one-size-fits-all”.

There’s your only version.

Let yourself live into it.

With love,

Kathryn
